Convergent and Known-Groups Validity and Sensitivity to Change of the Virtual Performance Measure in Patients With Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis: Longitudinal Study

Convergent and Known-Groups Validity and Sensitivity to Change of the Virtual Performance Measure in Patients With Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis: Longitudinal Study

Osteoarthritis of the hip and knee joint is a disabling condition in older adults with significant physical, social, and economic burdens. Traditionally, two types of outcome measurement have been used in the assessment of patients with lower-extremity osteoarthritis. Patient-reported outcome measures document perceived physical difficulty within a specific timeframe [1].

Effect of Clinic-Based and Asynchronous Video-Based Exercise on Clinic and Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis: Quasi-Experimental Study

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease [1] affecting synovial joints and is a leading cause of pain and disability among adults [2]. Knee osteoarthritis is the most common type, with data indicating that 45% of people may develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis in their lifetime [3]. Accordingly, knee osteoarthritis is the most prevalent type of osteoarthritis in Africans [4], accounting for 65%-78% of cases in hospitals in Nigeria [5].

Personalized Predictions for Changes in Knee Pain Among Patients With Osteoarthritis Participating in Supervised Exercise and Education: Prognostic Model Study

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic disease characterized by persistent joint pain and limited mobility, especially for those who experience from OA of the knee [1]. In the United States alone, the overall economic burden of OA is estimated at almost US $140 billion annually, highlighting the substantial societal and personal costs associated with the condition [2].

Behavioral Therapy–Based Digital Interventions for Treating Osteoarthritis: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Behavioral Therapy–Based Digital Interventions for Treating Osteoarthritis: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent joint disease affecting 29.7% of the population older than 40 years [1]. OA is characterized by pain, functional impairments, muscle weakness, joint stiffness, and reduced health-related quality of life (HRQo L) [2,3]. This causes heightened reliance on heath care resources and exacerbates socioeconomic burden [4,5].

Symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (KOA), characterized by pain, disability, and diminished quality of life, is a prevalent joint disorder in middle-aged and older adults [1]. Traditional perspectives have primarily linked KOA pain to structural joint changes; however, the weak correlation between radiographic findings and clinical symptoms suggests that structural abnormalities alone do not comprehensively account for the pain experienced by sufferers [2-5].

Real-Time Digitized Visual Feedback in Exercise Therapy for Lower Extremity Functional Deficits: Qualitative Study of Usability Factors During Prototype Testing

Among these conditions, osteoarthritis is particularly prevalent, affecting >40 million individuals in Europe [5]. Globally, this results in >18 million years lived annually with the disease. Degenerative conditions, such as osteoarthritis of the lower extremities, often necessitate total knee or hip arthroplasty [6].

Sex-Specific Trends in the Prevalence of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis From 2005 to 2021 in South Korea: Nationwide Cross-Sectional Study

Sex-Specific Trends in the Prevalence of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis From 2005 to 2021 in South Korea: Nationwide Cross-Sectional Study

Participants were classified into 6 groups based on their responses: men with osteoarthritis, women with osteoarthritis, both sexes with osteoarthritis, men with RA, women with RA, and both sexes with RA. We collected data on various potential sex–specific vulnerable factors associated with the development of osteoarthritis and RA, such as age, lifestyle habits, and socioeconomic status.

The Quality and Cultural Safety of Online Osteoarthritis Information for Affected Persons and Health Care Professionals: Content Analysis

Strategies included greater access to publicly available osteoarthritis information for women that accommodates cultural expressions, norms and preferences, and to continuing education for health care professionals on osteoarthritis management and how to tailor osteoarthritis advice to women’s intersectional factors [20,21]. Most research on support for osteoarthritis self-management has focused on the impact of osteoarthritis self-management programs delivered directly by health care professionals [22].

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a worldwide chronic musculoskeletal disease. It is characterized by pathologic changes in cartilage, bone, synovium, ligament, muscle, and periarticular fat [1]. OA causes chronic pain, joint stiffness, disability, and a subsequent impact on the quality of life [2]. Worldwide, it is estimated that more than 240 million individuals have activity-limiting, symptomatic OA [3]. Among the major joints, the hip and the knee are most commonly affected by OA [4].
